Pipe Injection System
Piston Assembly

A standard piston assembly is approximately 12 inches long. On low-pressure wells, after the tubing has been landed and the master valve has been installed, the tubing is equalized prior to releasing the end plug portion from the assembly as per the standard method used today. Another alternative is to simply pressure up the tubing utilizing the nitrogen supply at hand. Through the natural course of development of the Piston Injection System, we fully expect multiple configurations to become available for various applications.
The illustrated tool is designed by Cardium Tools, with the intent to remain attached to the tubing. This simple design eliminates any flow restrictions once the end plug portion has been dislodged, while still allowing for easy recovery. This tool also has a built in shear mechanism in the event of becoming lodged in the well. We fully expect this tool or a slightly modified version to become the standard for most shallow gas applications.
